The Bécsi Street project presented an engaging design challenge: transforming a former 100 m2 office interior into a comfortable and functional residence for a family. Located on the corner of the building with a northwestern orientation, the apartment benefits from a generous balcony that opens toward the northwest, allowing abundant natural light to enter the primary living spaces.

The original layout consisted of a series of small, compartmentalized office rooms finished with outdated materials and inefficient circulation. To unlock the spatial potential of the apartment, all non-structural partitions were removed and the plan was reorganized into a clear and logical residential layout that maximizes daylight and spatial flow.

The new design centers around a bright open-plan living room and kitchen that directly connect to the large balcony, creating a continuous relationship between interior and exterior space. Interestingly, the current kitchen occupies what was once a closed bedroom that previously received very little natural light. Through the reorganization of the plan and the opening of the living areas toward the balcony, the space has been transformed into a luminous social hub of the apartment. A discreet pantry is positioned adjacent to the kitchen, providing additional storage while maintaining the visual clarity of the main living space.

The former kitchen area has been repurposed into a guest bathroom, while the previously small and fragmented WC and bathroom have been combined and redesigned into a spacious, luxury master bathroom. The apartment now includes a well-balanced residential program consisting of a master bedroom, a guest bedroom, a dedicated office space, and generous communal areas designed for everyday family life.
Careful material selection and a restrained palette introduce warmth and refinement throughout the interior, replacing the former office character with a calm and contemporary residential atmosphere.
